Heroes: Ali Larter Marries Hayes MacArthur

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Heroes
actress Ali Larter and Worst Week actor Hayes MacArthur finally tied the knot Saturday in Kennebunkport, Maine. The couple exchanged vows at an intimate gathering of family and friends in an outdoor ceremony. Irish music reportedly played before the ceremony in honor of MacArthur’s Irish heritage while Larter’s father walked her down the aisle, according to Us Weekly. Among the guests was Larter’s close friend and Varsity Blues co-star Amy Smart.

Larter and MacArthur, who have been together for more than five years, met when they co-starred in National Lampoon’s Homo Erectus. The couple announced their engagement in December 2007.

While it was a lengthy engagement for the couple, taking it slow was not Larter’s choice.

“I told my boyfriend after three weeks that I wanted to marry him and that we could do it tomorrow,” Larter said last year.

“Since I was 15 years old, all I wanted was to find the guy I was going to marry,” the Heroes actress said said in the February 2009 issue of Cosmopolitan. “[Hayes] showed me the way, and all was right. This is how it’s supposed to be… I’m a hopeless romantic.”

Later, who has played Jessica/Niki Sanders and Tracy Strauss on Heroes, will be returning to the NBC science fiction series when it premieres its fourth season on Monday, September 21. She is also in talks of joining the movie Resident Evil: Afterlife, which is reportedly set to begin shooting this fall in Toronto.

On the other hand, MacArthur, who is credited for his guest stint on How I Met Your Mother, Pushing Daisies
and Entourage, can next be seen in the comedy feature This Might Hurt and the romantic comedy film She’s Out of My League, hitting theaters on March 12, 2010.

Robert Knepper: Promoted to Series Regular on Heroes

Friday, July 31st, 2009

Initially signed for just six episodes, former Prison Break star Robert Knepper has been promoted to a series regular on Heroes. Knepper will play Samuel on season four of the show, “the reluctant ringleader of a carnival,” as the actor explained at the San Diego Comic-Con festival last week.

In the wake of his brother’s passing, Knepper added that Samuel “made a decision that his life is not going to be the way it used to be,” as he “one-by-one lures the heroes into helping with” this new plan.

A Major Heroes Death: Confirmed!

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Before we get to the latest Heroes spoiler news, we feel the need to clear up a misconception: Based on a handful of critical posts related to this show, a few readers have labeled us as “haters” of Heroes. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

We simply watched the first season in awe and have grown more and more depressed with each passing, disappointing volume since. Like a good American questions his country, we aren’t gonna sit idly by and accept the demise of Heroes. Ratings have plummeted; the show was barely renewed last year; Tim Kring himself has admitted that he’s lost track of the series and is writing for characters he never thought would still be alive. So, come on, people.

Instead of blindingly accepting whatever Heroes airs each week, why not join us in challenging the show to return to its roots? We’ve heard that producers and writers often check Heroes forums around the Web to gauge fan reaction. Head over there. Converse will fellow followers. Be pro-active!

After all, E! News has certainly given us something to discuss: the site reports that an “original castmember is leaving Heroes for good before the end of the coming season.”

Who do you think it will be?!?

Hayden Panettierre Previews Season Four of Heroes

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

Rumors continue to circulate that Claire Bennet will be involved in a semi-lesbian storyline next season on Heroes. As you might expect, this doesn’t exactly raise our hopes over the prospects of improvement for the series. In a recent interview with MTV News, Hayden Panettierre doesn’t touch on this subject. Instead, she focuses on a new set of characters that will infiltrate Heroes in the fall.

The next season of Heroes has a lot of characters that are coming in. There’s something called The Carnival… which is kind of the opposite of what The Company was. There’s a lot of new, cool characters.” Claire, of course, will be a college freshman when the new season kicks off. But don’t expect her to wave any pom poms. “She’s trying out this new life and trying to figure out how to fit in,” said Panettiere. “I don’t know that I will ever put on a cheerleading outfit again!”

Heroes: Hayden Panettiere Teases Season Four’s Carnival

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

Though season four of NBC’s “Heroes” won’t start for a few more months, Hayden Panettiere told MTV News that there’s a new mysterious group that fans can look forward to in September: The Carnival.

Panettierre, who plays the title role in July 10th’s “I Love You, Beth Cooper“, is already preparing for more adventures as super-powered cheerleader Claire Bennet.

“The next season of ‘Heroes’ has a lot of characters that are coming in,” says Panettierre, “There’s something called The Carnival… which is kind of the opposite of what The Company was. There’s a lot of new, cool characters.”

The Carnival, judging from leaked casting sheets that appeared on “Heroes” fansites will be represented literally. That means barkers, freaks and –- mostly likely -– more than a fair share of cotton candy.

What do you make of this mysterious Carnival? What direction do you want “Heroes” to go in its fourth year? Share your ideas below!

Heroes: Bryan Fuller Quit?

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

Just as Heroes was gaining some creative momentum comes word of another setback: Bryan Fuller has vacated his post as consulting producer.

The acclaimed Pushing Daisies auteur tells me that he left to focus on developing new projects for NBC, and not (as some have speculated) due to creative differences with series creator Tim Kring.

“I’m crafting two pilots right now and it’s a lot of work,” admits Fuller, who has an overall deal with NBC. “It was just too hard to [juggle] Heroes and my development; something had to give.”

Fuller’s exit was first reported by Herc at Ain’t It Cool News.

Fuller returned to Heroes last December, shortly after ABC dropped the ax on Daisies. Many (yours truly included) credited him with the show’s end-of-season creative rebirth.

Reaction to Fuller’s exit? Are you as bummed as I am? Sound off below!

Doug in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England: I saw on Twitter that Bryan Fuller and Heroes are parting ways. Do you know anything more?
Sources confirm this is true. Bryan Fuller handed in one final script for an early episode of Heroes season four, and he is now moving on to develop new pilots for NBC. The cast is going to miss him.

Friends: What the Frock, Jennifer Aniston?

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Welcome, to “What the Frock?” where we question the stylistic sanity of our favorite Friends‘ TV actresses.

Today, we’re catching up with the ever adorable Jennifer Aniston, who was at the Women in Film Festival this weekend, looking fit, tan, and toned as as hell. Per usual. Thanks to whatever 50+ hours per week pilates regimen she’s on, and those miraculous genes she’s been blessed with, and probably some sort of fancy diet where all she eats is celery and a smoothie made of pure alpha hydroxy, this woman is impervious to that thing called “Aging.”

Unfortunately, the dress she chose for this occasion is not impervious to those things called “Wrinkles.”

Let’s get all the good out there first:

1. It’s not black. (Janiston’s go-to for pretty much every red carpet, ever.)

2. The cut is doing great things for her aforementioned great bod (and skintone).

3. She looks happy! And pretty! And she makes it look effortless. Like she wakes up looking so gorgeous. (Speaking of effortless… what are those shoes strapped on with? Zip ties?)

But therein, inside #3, lies a hint at the problem here… did she wake up in this dress? This metallic material resides somewhere in the shady, ethereal realm between Smoothsville and Wrinkleton, which is an ambiguous and unpleasant place to be, because it’s just human nature to want to put things in definite, intentional categories and judge them, usually harshly, from those distinctions. But this dress refuses to pick a home, and my brain can’t make a compelling case for or against either citizenship. So we’re in sort of a pickle, this dress and me. On the one hand, I see its point that its wearer looks slammin’ and it’s a lovely little dress for the most part, and so why can’t it just exist in that land between the ironing board and being bunched up on the floor, if that’s where it wants to be? But on the other hand: all I want to do is pull Jen aside and bust out my pocket steamer, because then I could sleep easily, knowing this dress lived in Smoothsville, but maybe just took a vacation to Wrinkleton and just got a bit lost on the drive home. I guess I’m just Type A that way.

Heroes: Rachel Melvin Joins the Cast as Annie

Sunday, June 7th, 2009

We have just been informed by our NBC contact that Rachel Melvin who most recently has been seen playing Chelsea in Days of Our Lives has joined the cast as Annie for Season 4.

As many of you know from the casting calls and the leaked script Annie is Claire’s roommate. So I assume Claire will have two roommates, because we reported earlier this week that Madeline Zima also will be playing Claire’s roommate (Gretchen).

Any thoughts!? What do you all think?
