Friends: What the Frock, Jennifer Aniston?
Tuesday, June 16th, 2009
Welcome, to “What the Frock?” where we question the stylistic sanity of our favorite Friends‘ TV actresses.
Today, we’re catching up with the ever adorable Jennifer Aniston, who was at the Women in Film Festival this weekend, looking fit, tan, and toned as as hell. Per usual. Thanks to whatever 50+ hours per week pilates regimen she’s on, and those miraculous genes she’s been blessed with, and probably some sort of fancy diet where all she eats is celery and a smoothie made of pure alpha hydroxy, this woman is impervious to that thing called “Aging.”
Unfortunately, the dress she chose for this occasion is not impervious to those things called “Wrinkles.”
Let’s get all the good out there first:
1. It’s not black. (Janiston’s go-to for pretty much every red carpet, ever.)
2. The cut is doing great things for her aforementioned great bod (and skintone).
3. She looks happy! And pretty! And she makes it look effortless. Like she wakes up looking so gorgeous. (Speaking of effortless… what are those shoes strapped on with? Zip ties?)
But therein, inside #3, lies a hint at the problem here… did she wake up in this dress? This metallic material resides somewhere in the shady, ethereal realm between Smoothsville and Wrinkleton, which is an ambiguous and unpleasant place to be, because it’s just human nature to want to put things in definite, intentional categories and judge them, usually harshly, from those distinctions. But this dress refuses to pick a home, and my brain can’t make a compelling case for or against either citizenship. So we’re in sort of a pickle, this dress and me. On the one hand, I see its point that its wearer looks slammin’ and it’s a lovely little dress for the most part, and so why can’t it just exist in that land between the ironing board and being bunched up on the floor, if that’s where it wants to be? But on the other hand: all I want to do is pull Jen aside and bust out my pocket steamer, because then I could sleep easily, knowing this dress lived in Smoothsville, but maybe just took a vacation to Wrinkleton and just got a bit lost on the drive home. I guess I’m just Type A that way.
Heroes: Season 4 - Even More Casting News
Friday, June 5th, 2009

Hey All,
The very interesting casting news continues for Season 4 of Heroes. Ausiello from EW is reporting that both Ray Park (YES that Ray Park aka Darth Maul from Star Wars) and Deanne Bray (from the L Word) are close to signing deals as recurring roles for Volume 5 Redemption.
Park known for his role as Darth Maul, but also as Toad in the X-Men movies and will be next seen in G.I. Joe playing Snake Eyes.
EW is reporting that Park will be playing the “knife throwing” character in the Carnival while Bray will be playing the hearing impaired love interest for one of the Heroes. Earlier this week Tim Kring informed us that Peter will be getting a new romantic interest. So I assume Bray could be this character and in the official casting call, the character was listed as Emma.
Here are the original casting calls for the characters as a reminder.
So what do you all think!? This has been a crazy week of casting news for Heroes and I am liking it. So hopefully the writing and story lines will work well.

Zima joins ‘Heroes’ for recurring role
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009
“Heroes” Claire Bennet is off to college.
The undestructable high school cheerleader will soon be hitting the books on a college campus where she will cross paths with a quirky student played by Madeline Zima.
“Californication” co-star Zima has been tapped to recur on the NBC drama’s upcoming fourth season.
In a multi-episode arc she will play Gretchen, an edgy outsider and college roommate to Claire (Hayden Panettiere).
Zima, who next appears in the feature “My Own Love Song” opposite Renee Zellweger and Forest Whitaker, is repped by ICM and Framework.

‘Heroes’ To Start Filming Season 4 Soon
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
As Heroes goes back to work to begin shooting its fourth season, clues were already rife in terms of how the saved NBC series will approach its new volume “Redemption.” Judging from the array of characters it was on a lookout for, Heroes fans anticipate the sci-fi series to resemble HBO series Carnivale, complete with a character that will start out small then grow.
“Redemption,” which was confirmed early last month despite dwindling ratings, is set to begin six weeks after “Fugitives.” As seen in the prelude, Tracy’s (Ali Larter) ability has evolved (again) allowing her to further manipulate water. In other casting news, Heroes is currently looking for a 20-something actress to play the hearing-impaired love interest of a main character, in addition to the show’s “own Ellen Page” to play Claire’s (Hayden Panettiere) quirky college roommate and an “Andre Braugher” to play Matt’s (Greg Grunberg) partner and mentor.
Meanwhile, E! Online reports that Hiro’s (Masi Oka) bloody noses and headaches will not go away any time soon on season 4. In fact, it’s going to be a cause for speculation on if we’re going to lose another hero soon.
In other news, Heroes remain to be one of the two most “valuable program franchises a marketer can tap into” despite losing audience share in the ratings, as reported by TV By the Numbers. The rankings try to assess the overall value of network and cable television programs by going beyond ratings to look at viewer involvement via blogs and social networks. The other top program as far as this parameter is concerned is ABC’s Lost.

Heroes: The Future of Nathan/Sylar
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009On this week’s third season finale, Sylar died. For the most part.
Nathan also died. Kind of.
Now, the pair share one body, as Sylar has been brainwashed to believe he’s actually Nathan. Following along? Adrian Pasdar is, and he’s thrilled with the direction of the show.
“Zach’s not done,” the actor told TV Guide. “There’s Nathan, there’s Sylar, and there’s the point of view that you have to factor in. If I look up into the mirror, who would I see?”

Looking down the line, the storyline sets up an epic internal battle between Nathan and Sylar next season.
“Who’s going to be able to control the actions of the body?” Pasdar asked. “Like one of those computers that self-teaches, the longer he stays in my body and the longer he assimilates my physical structure and DNA, the more control I get. So it becomes a battle of who’s in charge.”
But what about the fact that no one ever, actually dies on the show? Doesn’t that remove any and all drama?
“Some things should stick, otherwise there’s no weight if you’re going to reset everybody’s history every 10 minutes, and nobody’s going to pay attention anymore,” Pasdar said. “But as fascinating as concepts might be, ultimately it’s people that engage viewership. If you’re going to ask people to tune in week to week, you want to follow somebody’s plight, not some nameless story arc. We’ve tried to be consistent - sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. But I think we’re going to come out on top.”
